You are Beautiful

I did the big chop in Nairobi in year 2012,after I had been influenced greatly by my African American Roommate  in the US to embrace my ‘being African’.

Fast forward to 2013,coming back to home to Minna in Northern Nigerian with my Afro and I am getting all these stares and comments from my friends and relatives. Comments  like ‘when are you going to relax your hair’? or ‘ you look like a boy’.

If I must confess,that did a number on my self esteem as I began to look for ways to cover my hair by putting weaves and braids on just so that I would look beautiful and more like a  woman.

Now, recently I have just being reminded that I have been created and designed by the most talented designer in the whole universe,JEHOVA.

The bible in Psalm 139:13  says

‘‘ For you formed my inward part; you knitted me in my mother’s womb, I praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made”

See, I have also just been reminded that praising God is all I should be doing because being beautiful isn’t dependent on my hair more than it is dependent on the being living in me; the HOLY SPIRIT. Now, this being makes me beautiful everyday by renewing his fruits in me and just like me, you are beautiful. You don’t believe me?

Galatians 5:22 and 23 says,

‘‘But the fruit of the spirit is love,joy,peace,forbearance,kindness,goodness , faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law” (NIV)

Let me tell you, don’t let that self esteem reduce because you feel like you are shapeless or fat or not beautiful enough. The bible tells us we have been wonderfully and fearfully made, still not convinced?

Genesis 1:27 says

”So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;male and female he created them”.

Seriously, you are beautiful and God loves you .  Just stand in front of the mirror and see  yourself the way he sees you. As a matter of fact God can be seen as soon as you are sighted because you have been created in his image, and if the ‘worry’ is a life partner ,since the assumption is that the container is seen before the content, you will be perfect for the heart that is meant to love you.

So today , take a chill pill ,lift your shoulders and raise your head high because,YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!
