Why God allows suffering and how to deal with suffering when it comes

Hebrews 5:7-9 NLT

While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God. Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.

Suffering is part of life. We live in a fallen world, and we sometimes make bad choices, such as watching things that God does not approve of or speaking when we should be quiet. Sometimes it is the thief who is trying to kill, steal, and destroy us (John 10:10). For instance, using demonic family patterns to accuse and destroy. However, we can be rest assured that when those moments come, God can be trusted to help us.

Even Jesus who is God suffered, so why do we think we will escape? In my experience of suffering from mental health crises in 2020/21, I learnt to pray. That was the only way to receive peace in my mind. For me, it reiterated the scripture, “Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. “(Psalm 34:5).

Whether we put ourselves in the position of pain or Satan, God wants to save us. He is our saviour after all. He wants us set free and whole. This is why Jesus came (John 10:10b).

Yes, you might sometimes suffer and go through stuff but God can save and help you but you must cry out to Him.

So here is what you do when you suffer, “Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray “James 5:13a. God does not expect us to sulk or become mad at Him as if He is the author of our sufferings. Instead, He expects us to cry out to Him for Help and He will come through for us.

Also, read your Bible. I cannot emphasise this enough. He will give you direction, comfort, encouragement, and strength through it. READ YOUR BIBLE. You need something to anchor your life on.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work– 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

We must also FEAR GOD! Jesus was heard because He feared God. The fear of God does not come to us naturally; we must ask God to teach us to fear Him, and if we engage with Him in prayer, Bible study and meditation, we will learn to fear Him. i.e., have a deep reverence for Him. Because He sees us. He sees our innermost part, even parts of us that we are ignorant about.

“To fear God is to nurture an attitude of awe and humility before Him and to walk in radical dependence upon God in each area of life. The fear of the Lord is similar to the mindset of a subject before a powerful king; it is to be under divine authority as one who will surely give an account. Fearing the Lord relates to trust, humility, teachability, servanthood, responsiveness, gratitude, and reliance on God; it is the exact opposite of autonomy and arrogance.” Kenneth Boa

The fear of the Lord leads to life, And he who has it will abide in satisfaction; He will not be visited with evil- Proverbs 19: 23 NKJV.

Jesus loves you. Jesus is for you and with you. Live for Him.

If you are currently suffering, be comforted with this: For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us- (Romans 8:18).

You are loved.
