Hello there,
I sincerely hope you are having a wonderful summer and if it is not coming up well, I invite you to seek Jesus. He truly answers prayers. Summer for me has been interesting as I am able to pause and reflect on my life. Today, I would like to share some lessons I have been learning in this season and I hope it brings you change.
Prayer is good but what is the motive? “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). Many times, we want things for the wrong reasons and not necessarily to glorify God. Why are you fasting so much? Is it an attempt to manipulate and strong-arm God? I remember wanting to experience the supernatural so that I could also participate in discussions around the spirit realm. I have since been reprimanded by the Holy Spirit and to this end, I constantly have to remind myself that God is more concerned with my heart than my actions.
Everything starts and ends with God! (Psalm 127:1-2)…So here is the deal, no matter how you struggle and fight for a thing, if God does not want you to have it, you won’t get it. This is why there is no point being jealous of anybody. Whatever an individual has, is allowed by God. You can either be happy for the person or wallow in self-pity and sadness. God literally helps a person start and finish. How do I know this? I was jealous of some people and the funny thing is that these people do not even know me (shhh, don’t judge me …I know, it’s absurd). I can talk about it now because of the constant work of the Holy Spirit on my heart however, keep in mind that what God has done for others, He can do for you also.
Walk vigilantly! Do you know it is very easy to go back to where God has brought you from? I mean that sin that God has delivered you from, if you allow your flesh, it will take you back. Even though the Bible tells us that who the son has set free is free indeed, the same Bible states that “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires” (Romans 6:12). So we must be careful not to be bound again. This might seem silly but in university, I watched so many movies and wasted so much time and if you read your Bible, you would know that God is against laziness (Proverbs 6:6-11,Proverbs 18:9) . Now watching movies is not bad in itself but spending time (hours on end) is just plain slothfulness and to be honest there have been serious temptations to get back into the habit of wasting time. This might be a small example but it just goes to show how easy it is to fall back into life according to the flesh. Remember “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).
