So I am writing my dissertation on the issue of the coexistence of corruption and religion in Nigeria. Interestingly Nigeria held second place for most religious country in the world in 2013 and yet it currently holds place as the 27th most corrupt county in the world according to Transparency International. So what’s happening?
Churches are growing, people are coming to Jesus yet the perception of corruption as a culture still stands! But why?
The thing is that are these new believers reading the word? Has the church become a place where people can just integrate into the society?
See, if you claim to love and follow Jesus, then YOU MUST STUDY THE WORD FOR YOURSELF!
Jesus answered them, “You are deceived, because you don’t know the Scriptures or the power of God: Matthew 22:29 (HCSB)
The background to this statement was when some Sadducees came to ask the Lord about marriage in heaven and He gave the response (Read Matthew 22 ).
Who knows the things that mentality cost them. See, don’t just accept what is being taught! Do your own study. Get to know the scriptures and the power of God for your own selves.
Nigeria would be a lot better if you stop running from church to church in order to receive miracles. Get to know this Jesus personally and see Him for the awesome person He is.
Jesus is coming for a glorious bride and as part of His bride, if you are not serious with your faith in Him, you better start being serious.
The people here were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, since they welcomed the message with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so; Acts 17:11 (HCSB)

Obviously, people are desperate seeking for things of the flesh than the things of the kingdom, and church is busy chasing after money and competing among themselves, foregotting to preach the gospel. In the book of Matt. 6 : 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (NLT) what lead to corruption today in this part of the world is self and greed. Therefore, unless Nigeria and Nigerian recognize Jesus as the ultimate and practicing his teaching, we would continue to experience more of the evil than good. #Godhelpus#Oreme#
