“Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life” – proverbs 4:23(AMPC)
One thing I believe the church in Africa has missed is the knowledge that we are responsible for our lives. That’s why people move from miracle centres to miracle centres instead of sitting down with their Bibles and praying the Word. God is not going to come down from heaven to save you. Your life is a partnership between you and God.
Therefore, you are supposed to take responsibility. Nothing happens just because, or like they say in our generation, “what will be will be.” It is your responsibility to guard your heart and direct your life based on what you allow to settle into it. As I heard a preacher say, “God will not do what you are supposed to do.”
Don’t be lazy, because what will be will not be if you refuse to put in the work both physically and spiritually. Do what you need to do and trust God by active faith in Him. No one is coming to save you. You are responsible for your life. So, watch your thoughts and be careful so that evil does not become your actions.
Faith is active! Faith is not sitting on your bum and saying, “I am trusting God.” Faith is meditating on His Word. Faith is praying God’s Word back to Him. Faith is not passive in any way. So, work hard at your goals, trust His promises, and live in obedience. God has good plans for you.
