“13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” – Ephesians 6:13-18
There is so much to learn from the text above. One of which is that you must keep standing. When life hits you really hard and it feels like nothing working –KEEP STANDING. When things are going really well and you are super grateful to God, STAND! When you are unsure about where your next meal will come from, STAND! When you feel like you are going through a phase of hopelessness, STAND! My dear friend please STAND whatever the situation is.
“Favour what is your concern with “standing” today?”
So here is the deal, life will hit you from different angles and you may have already cried so much but I just want to encourage you not to give up. God is on your side, He has not forgotten you. He loves you and is going to show up for you so please keep standing. DON’T GIVE UP ON GOD OR YOUR DREAMS.
Other lessons include the fact that we must live like Jesus (His life wasn’t easy, He died like a criminal at 33). We must also PRAY.
In my free time, I like to converse with people about Jesus and the question I can almost always expect is “What church do you go to?”. Although I am not perfect (very far from it) but it is like not very many people live like Jesus anymore and when you talk about Jesus, you are trying to get people to your church (Which is usually not the case). Stand out!
Lastly, you must pray! Someone said, pray like your life depends on it and work like your life depends on it.
“It seems God is limited by our prayer life. God can do nothing for humanity unless someone asks Him”-John Wesley.
“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can his faith save him?15 If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way faith, if it doesn’t have works, is dead by itself.18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.”Show me your faith without works, and I will show you faith from my works”. James 2: 14-18
You need to spend time praying as you work. You cannot pray and expect things to work without some effort. God is not a lazy God and He doesn’t expect you to be lazy. Jesus spent time praying! No wonder He is considered to be the most important person that has ever lived.
So here are three lessons for us today.
- STAND AGAINST ALL ODDS!
- LIVE LIKE JESUS
- PRAY
If you don’t know Jesus, there is no hope of tommorrow for you. Please get to know Him today.
You are loved and highly longed for.
