Nigeria and Religion:God wants your heart more than He wants to bless you Materially!

So recently, I have read and heard of how prosperous Nigeria USED TO BE, how one Naira was equal to one Dollar. How there were serious Holy Ghost revivals   in the 70s-90s.

My theory is that with the revivals came  economic growth  because God was really working on our hearts and was pleased with us. Although I understand that there has also being decay in other Sub-Saharan African countries but that’s not my point today. The question is what happened to Nigeria? What happened to “The giant of Africa” ? Surprisingly, Nigerians still take pride in being called  the giant of Africa but people, we are falling. Nigeria is plagued with poverty, corruption and indiscipline.

How is it that a country with a population of  48% followers of Jesus  can’t stand on it’s feet but instead is in so much debt ? with people owning jets and all.

How is that there is so much inequality and poverty yet the growth of mega churches are on the rise.

I am sorry o , I am not trying to offend any body. However, these things must be said. I am tired of pretending that Nigeria is not just a religious country. I am tired of pretending that most people who claim to be running after Jesus don’t it because of what they think He would do for them.

Seriously, God is not interested in you being rich at the detriment of your relationship with Him and your soul. God may want you to live in lekki or Asokoro and have iphone 6 BUT He wants you more than He wants you bless you materially!  Jesus didn’t come to die so that you will have plenty money. He came to die to save you first, everything else is a plus.

Yes, God wants Nigeria to prosper but He wants our hearts to be right with Him even more. It is only in Nigeria that people are called wicked because they would not participate in Nepotism, corruption or undue favouritism. How is it okay to “settle” people to be their good books and still be a follower of Jesus. What HAPPENED TO DOING THE RIGHT THING AND TRUSTING JESUS?

Don’t even let me get started on the multi-million dollar buildings  and statues that are coming up in the name of church and Jesus .Yet 61% of Nigerians live below the poverty line. That is below 1:90USD a day which in other words is below 380 Naira a day. Yes , count yourself blessed to be able to afford the internet. 61% of  People in Nigeria live below the 380 Naira upon all the wealth that is in our country.

I honestly doubt that Jesus is impressed with us. The countries that have achieved economic growth today were built on the foundations of the Jesus’s character and NOT SELF AND GREED,

So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27 (NKJV)

of course today these countries have deviated but it’s an example of what following Jesus completely can do.

See, God doesn’t delight in “double starndardness” for lack of a better word, He wants to do a new thing in Nigeria but we have to stop running after things that will perish with this earth. Nigeria has to remember that God is watching and we will answer for all the religion that is being played out in His name.  You either stand for him or don’t. All the “God bless you” from people who haven’t made Him their lord.

Young ladies who on Instagram would put naked pictures of themselves today and some bible verse tomorrow  should stop.

If 48% of the Nigerian populace claim to be followers of Jesus, then lets start acting like it. Jesus is coming back for a SPOTLESS BRIDE! Not a religious bride.

“You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” James 4:4

In this New year, followers of Jesus, especially the youth . Arise and stand for Jesus! Stand for Nigeria. God has good plans for our country and we  are the ones that will live in it tomorrow.

Seriously how many people can run away?it is our Nigeria. Let’s truly SHINE  OUR JESUS in this New year .

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.(John 1:4-5)

Jesus loves you even if you are not born again.. stop chasing religion and get to know the maker of your life. The one who can point you to WHY He created you.

You are loved.
