“In this manner, therefore, pray:Our Father in heaven,Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come.Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts,As we forgive our debtors”.Matthew 6:9-12
Have you ever prayed so much about something with no result? 😫 I bet most of us have had to deal with this situation. So what would the solution be?
I was reading my Bible the other day and when I got to this scripture in Matthew 6, it struck me that the pattern of prayer the Lord Jesus taught the disciples was first of all focused on the kingdom. Just like matthew 6:33 admonishes us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. After all, the scripture states that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word is established (2 Corinthians 13:1).
Isn’t it amazing that God did not leave us in the dark about this pattern? So if you have been struggling with that need and wondering why God seems to be far away, maybe, just maybe you have been getting it all wrong.
If you have a relationship with God through Jesus , then you are probably well aware that God is interested in expanding His kingdom. It is “for God so loved the world” (John 3:16) and not for God so loved only you or your family. God is interested in advancing His kingdom and is willing that everyone should come to the knowledge of Him. Let me ask you a question, as part of the body of Christ, what are you doing to advance His kingdom? Don’t even even think of the excuse of being too small or not knowing what to do. For starters, you can pray for the unsaved and unreached people groups. You can give your time or money to support the kingdom and push the cause of Christ. You can speak about Jesus with every opportunity that comes. These are merely suggestions and I bet that if you seek the Holy Spirit, He will put more ideas in your heart.
Thankfully, 🙌 God is a good God and His mercies are everlasting but He has principles and does not violate them. You want that prayer answered? Seek to bring His kingdom on earth in your own small way. Let love for Him consume you. Think Jesus, sleep Jesus, eat Jesus, breath Jesus. Let your life be fundamentally about Jesus.
Now seeking first His kingdom does negate the place of patience through faith, forgiveness, holiness, spiritual growth among His other principles. However, it is certainly the first step in the right direction.
So let’s seek first His kingdom in this new decade and see Him add every other thing.
You are loved,
