Fear: The Lord of a Captive soul

So yesterday I was reminiscing on how far I have come in terms of growth spiritually. Definitely,  I still have a loooooonnnggg way to go but one thing that I struggled with that no longer exists is fear.

I used to be a very fearful person. Growing up, I would be so scared to sleep in the dark and would cover myself with a blanket (even if I sweating underneath) so that I could “hide” from what I thought would attack me.

I have spent nights not sleeping out of the fear of having some horrific extra-terrestrial experience.

Thinking about it now, makes me realise how much fear had me in captivity.

So what changed?

I now understand Ephesians 2:4-6….

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens.

I am armed with the knowledge of my  position in the spiritual realm, which is the fact that because of my relationship with Jesus Christ (The Creator of all things), there is nothing to fear.

You also have nothing to fear, if you have accepted Jesus as Lord over your life. Because, you are sitting with Jesus in heaven, FAR above any demon, evil spirit or weirdness.

He demonstrated this power in the Messiah by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavens—  far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come- Ephesians 1:20-21

If you are not convinced, remember His word promises that:

“For He will give His angels orders concerning you,to protect you in all your ways”.(Psalm 91:11)

God has no reason to lie to you. His word tells us that HE CANNOT LIE. Hence you are safe in Him.

 Rest in Him.

You are going to be just fine. You will not die if you are not ready and everything will turn out well.

“Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength”– Ephesians 6:10

If you haven’t met Jesus, you need to meet Him. He loves you like no other would ever love you and SAFETY comes with Him .

“Our lives are full of supposes. Suppose this should happen, or suppose that should happen; what could we do; how could we bear it? But, if we are living in the high tower of the dwelling place of God, all these supposes will drop out of our lives. We shall be quiet from the fear of evil, for no threatenings of evil can penetrate into the high tower of God.”- Hannah Whitall Smith
