So you want to lead?

I remember when I first heard God speak to me about being a leader, I was so excited and reminiscing about it now, it was sad that I thought in my heart that I was “special and different as one else was”.

Thankfully, so much has changed  since then, as the lord keeps working in my heart. However, In recent times the Lord has been dealing with me on leadership.

So, let’s talk leadership!

What is not leadership?

It is not sanctimonious, it is not about power, it is not about position, it is not primarily about influence. It is not even about the benefits of position!

Leadership is about PEOPLE!

The people who are so precious to God that He came to die for! It is about the betterment of humanity and not for individual benefit.

As a writer put it, it is about action and example.

God gives a model of leadership below;

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it.– John 3:16-18a(MSG)

Jesus (God)  my perfect example died for his followers, how much do you love the people you lead?

Being a leader means you must LOVE! It is not about you or a season to shine.

P.S If the motive is selfish, you will fail woefully.

“I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd puts the sheep before himself, sacrifices himself if necessary. A hired man is not a real shepherd. The sheep mean nothing to him. He sees a wolf come and runs for it, leaving the sheep to be ravaged and scattered by the wolf. He’s only in it for the money. The sheep don’t matter to him: John 10:11-13(MSG)

In a nutshell, Jesus is the standard for leadership. As you get to know Him you become. Spend time with Him and see transformation in your skills and life.

If you haven’t met the amazing being called Jesus who died for you, then you have a long way to go. God loves you so much and there is no need for all the befuddlement. Give yourself to Him and let Him lead you.

The authority by which the Christian leader leads is not power but love, not force but example, not coercion but reasoned persuasion. Leaders have power, but power is safe only in the hands of those who humble themselves to serve. –John Stott

You are loved and highly longed for.
