And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you – Romans 12:2 (AMP)
The above verse talks about not conforming or abiding by the standard of this world. In this world, there is the Jesus camp and Satan’s camp, and you. Interestingly, you get to pick a side and there is no sitting on the fence because it usually means you are choosing the satan – God’s enemy.
So how does picking a side relate to being not conformed? If you have chosen to walk, work with and for Jesus then congratulations! However, what are you full of ?
“And He said to them, “Are you, too, so foolish and lacking in understanding? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile and dishonor him, 19 since it does not enter his heart, but [only] his stomach, and [from there it] is eliminated?” (By this, He declared all foods ceremonially clean.) 20 And He said, “Whatever comes from [the heart of] a man, that is what defiles and dishonors him. 21 For from within, [that is] out the heart of men, come base and malevolent thoughts and schemes, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, adulteries” -Mark 7:18-21
You become what you think! You cannot live above the customs and values of the world if you don’t think Jesus.
“We are addicted to our thoughts. We cannot change anything if we cannot change our thinking.” ― Santosh Kalwar
In the short time that I have lived on this planet, there are lots and lots of distractions, from the things you see on the streets, in the bus or on TV. However I have realised that focusing on Jesus and getting my mind occupied with thoughts of my faith in Him contributes to keeping me sane. I am not saying that you will be perfect and not have evil thoughts come into your heart. I am just saying that as the Lord helps , you don’t have to dwell on those thoughts.
“There is so much about my fate that I cannot control, but other things do fall under the jurisdiction. I can decide how I spend my time, whom I interact with, whom I share my body and life and money and energy with. I can select what I can read and eat and study. I can choose how I’m going to regard unfortunate circumstances in my life-whether I will see them as curses or opportunities. I can choose my words and the tone of voice in which I speak to others. And most of all, I can choose my thoughts.”
― Elizabeth Gilbert
So as a child of God how does this work?
Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart,
That I may not sin against You.– Psalm 119:11 (AMP)
Talk to Jesus (Pray) as often as you can,as you walk to the bus stop, as you sit on the toilet bowl or take a shower.Additionally, you cannot spend your free time watching a TV show that has more scenes of sex than any other and expect not to fornicate or commit adultery. Therefore, fill your heart with the knowledge of Jesus.
It would keep you from thinking things which would lead to actions that will eventually be regretted.
Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart]– Philippians 4:8 (AMP)
If you don’t know this Jesus, think he is not God or believe that He does not exist, then you are badly deceived. Jesus loves you so much and He gave Himself for you.
Hey,think about what will happen when you die?
You are loved,
