The power of kindness

1 kings 12:1-14 : reference

Rehoboam lost his Father’s kingdom because of unkindness.

“and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with [d]scourges!” 15 So the king did not listen to the people; for the turn of events was from the Lord, that He might fulfil His word, which the Lord had spoken by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. Now when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying “What share have we in David?
We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse.
To your tents, O Israel!
Now, see to your own house, O David!”So Israel departed to their tents”- 1 Kings 12:13-16

While many Nigerians are very nice and helpful, most people can be very unkind and rude. Maybe because of the economic situation. I remember one of my reverse culture situations after living out of the country for a while. I entered a taxi and I was so shocked at the venom the taxi driver was spewing even though I was a paying customer.

One can see the unkindness and bullying even at work from employer to employee. A lack of mutual respect from people who claim to be Christians. You cannot influence anybody you don’t love. It just doesn’t happen. This is why many children give their parents a lot of grief today because the children have never really felt love.

Love is kind( 1 Corinthians 13). We as a body must work towards living out this trait of our Father. Kindness! If you want to win souls be kind! Btw it is not niceness or being pretentious but loving people from your heart

Kindness is also a fruit of the spirit ( Galatians 5:22-2) and we will be known by our fruit. The Christians were called “Christians” in Antioch because they looked like Jesus in deed.

May we truly be “Christians” in Jesus name.

You are loved and have been bought with a price.
