PROVE IT ALL

But I doubt  it’s going to make a difference.

Ever been in a situation where  you feel like you had to prove yourself?Like Nigerians would say “where you had to show yourself”? I have been there quite a number of times. My struggle was with trying to show that I am intelligent. That I am not just another bimbo, you know, beauty without brains. Then I realised that the more I tried to prove how smart I am, the more I sounded stupid and the more my esteem took a dive. The whole reason was because I was not confident as a person and in my place in God.

My introverted but sociable self will generally disappear in large crowds because I am more comfortable in small gatherings and one to one contact. However, in my small mind, I felt that to network , my presence had to be ‘present’ in gatherings.Forgetting, Philippians 2:3Don’t act out of selfish ambition or be conceited’. Ofcourse that  didn’t work every well because it was an effort to impress and “show” my self.

Right now, I wouldn’t say I am perfect or that the struggle has dissapeared completely, however, I am more confident in my place in God and in the person He is making.

Some of us struggle with other insecurities and I understand that we are human and the Lord keeps working on us constantly. However, I just want to encourage you to stop trying to be what God hasn’t called you to be. Psalm 138:8a The LORD will work out his plans for my life–for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever

See, He has different plans and paths for each of us because  we are different. Therefore stop comparing yourself to other people and rest in who He has called you to be.

He will use who you are, to bring what He has prepared for you.

Psalm 37:5  Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. (AMP)

Your efforts will really make no difference  if He hasn’t called you to be that.

I am not saying we shouldn’t put in efforts to be better people. Please work on yourself and be the best you can be as He helps you. However, put the effort within the confines of who He has called you to be and not because “Sister A” is like that.

But each one must carefully scrutinize his own work [examining his actions, attitudes, and behavior], and then he can have the personal satisfaction and inner joy of doing something commendablewithout comparing himself to another. For every person will have to bear [with patience] his own burden [of faults and shortcomings for which he alone is responsible] Galatians 6:4-5(AMP)

Jesus has called us to shine His light and be the best we can be.

Be confident in God and in His work in you.

“Personality begins where comparison leaves off. Be unique. Be memorable. Be confident”-Shannon L. Alder.

If you don’t know Jesus, get to know Him. You need Him. No one ever knows when death comes, you have nothing to lose if you accept Jesus as your saviour.

You are loved,

Favour.
