4 Lessons from 3 continents

I trust your weekend is going well. Today’s blog is a bit different as I would like to share some insights I have garnered from living in 3 continents. I hope you find it to be a blessing. Come with me and leave comments below. 🚶🏽‍♀️🚶🏾‍♀️

1. In my third week living in Germany, I went sightseeing and at some point during the trip, the trains stopped functioning and there were limited buses to ferry us to the next destination. It was interesting to watch people struggle for the limited resource of transport. It reminded me of the struggle to board a ‘molue’ (local bus) in Lagos, Nigeria. This incident buttressed the already clear point that people are people wherever you go in the world. When resources are scarce, there would always be a scramble. I guess this is why racism is so illogical but that’s another blog post for a different day.

2. Regions have a predominant culture, just like regions have a predominant race. So for example, in West Africa you’d be sure to find maize flour that can make ‘Tuwo or Swallow’ or Ugali or chapati which is more common to East Africa. Similarly in Europe, you’d be sure to find variants of salad or the general disinterest in religion. This predominant culture makes it easier to settle and fit in different regions.

3.On my first day in England, a shop attendant asked me why I spoke really good English😵, I smiled and replied that England colonised most of the world.
At that point in my life, I was no longer surprised by such questions since someone in the US had previously assumed that I could not afford to be in the US unless my father was an African Chief 🙄. I had realized that most people live in bubbles of their locality and so the average Nigerian knows nothing about what happens beyond Nigeria just like the average American even though social media and the internet might be changing this narrative.

4. Finally, because people are people everywhere, the rules of the gospel apply everywhere. Satan is out to destroy humanity. Yes there is a ‘Satan’! Whether it is through witchcraft and poverty in Africa or through atheism and abundance in the global North, Satan is out for souls of men and women.

The truth however is that he doesn’t have to win. If you would enter into a relationship with the creator of mankind, the you can be safe in this ongoing war. Just as Satan is not stopping in his plan to take us down, God is stopping at nothing in ensuring that His beloved race of creation is not destroyed. Fam know this, God loves you whether, you are black, blue or orange. Whether you are in the hottest or coldest region of the earth, HE LOVES YOU. Please allow him into your life.
